Another beauty of a place to add to your list of free camping in Western Australia. Well we should really say, low cost camping in Western Australia. None the less, if your into camping right near the beach, Coronation Beach is the place for you. However we do have to let you know the wind on the Mid West Coast of Australia is painful!
WHERE TO FIND CORONATION BEACH
Coronation Beach is located 28km north of Geraldton, Western Australia. Travel along the North West Coastal highway and turn off onto a sealed road, where you will travel to the beach and camping area. Coronation Beach Camping Ground has limited camping sites available and during peak season sites fill up quickly. There is a Caretaker on site to assist with any bookings.
WHY COME HERE AND FACILITIES AVAILABLE
Coronation Beach, Western Australia is an ideal spot if your an avid Kitesurfer or Windsurfer. This is primarily due to the constant winds. Plus with the caravan and camping industry saturated with people selling up and taking 12 month road trip holidays, everyone looks for free or low cost camps. Camping fees are pretty cheap at only $7 per night and your still with in a reasonable distance to the major town of Geraldton.
The beach area itself has parking for people wanting to visit for the day, plus limited camping spots.There is about 10 sheltered areas and a few bbq areas scattered around. There is a playground for the kids, pit toilets and shower cubicles however you need to provide your own water. The camping area has limited shady areas and you need to be aware of possible snakes as the area has quite dense scrub. There is a beautiful lookout on the top of the hill and we recommend taking a photo from there.
