Seriously we are not going to lie here, we love beer and for us, a tour at the Carlton Brewhouse with free sample tasting’s is pretty exciting. We reckon there is nothing better than kicking back sucking on a stubby. What a way to relax!
We found the tour of the Carlton Brewhouse to be affordable ($30 per adult) that includes 7 free samples and you go into the barrel to win some giveaways. We found the tour quite informative; whilst you don’t see much of the production line itself, you do get an insight into how beer is produced. You get to watch a few videos and you get to smell various barley and hops. Some are stinkers! Nearing the end of the tour, you do get to see the Bottling and Packaging line, whilst you’re in this factory, you will get to take in that musky beer aroma! Much like a pub that’s been serving beers all night, pretty foul really!
Once all the walking is done and you’re back at the brewhouse, the best part of the tour is next. The TASTINGS!!! You start off first with the unpasteurized Carlton Draught, and then you grab your paddle and pick your own 6 to taste. There are around 10 beers that you get to pick from. Our favorites were the Carlton Dry and McCracken. Whilst you’re having your samples, you order lunch or even have a few more extra ales on top of your samples.
Some people might find the tour a bit boring but we loved it! The beers are good, it’s also a great day out learning about the history of Abbotsford and the sheer size of this processing plant. Whether you’re a local to Melbourne or if you’re travelling through, pay the Carlton Brewhouse a visit. To book your tickets for a tour head on over to their website
On our visit to the Carlton Brewhouse, we also made this hilarious video, check it out for a laugh!
Its all about sharing our travel experiences and encouraging others to do more travel themselves. Whether is on a budget or lashing out, we do it all 🙂
