Ellendale Pool- Western Australia

There is many free or low cost camping options all around Australia. We present to you another Low Cost Campground to consider when your exploring the MidWest & Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.  

If your looking for a pretty spot with a bush setting and a natural waterhole on the Greenough River, Ellendale Pool is an option to consider if your visiting the Geraldton region. A popular spot for day trippers and overnight campers to visit. 

WHERE IS ELLENDALE POOL CAMPGROUND? 

Ellendale Pool is 45km south east of Geraldton, Western Australia. A four and half our drive from Perth. There is a sign on the Brand Highway marking the turnoff for Ellendale Pool before you get the the historic town of Greenough. Ellendale Pool is located on the Ellendale Road via the small town of Walkaway.  

The campground offers a stunning waterhole surrounded by gumtrees and a large gorge. 

THE COST TO CAMP HERE

Camp site fees are payable to Geraldton Visitor Centre, fees are minimal $5 per night with a maximum of 3 nights permitted.  



FACILITIES AT ELLENDALE POOL

When it comes to free or low cost campsites, you need to be fully aware that some places don’t offer full facilities. It can be a very basic camping area for people to pull up for a 24 hours break.  Ellendale Pool camping area has space for large caravans and individual camping areas.. There is flushing toilets, gas BBQs, picnic tables and chairs and a kids playground. 

Dogs are permitted only on leads and their is a dump point available. There is no drinking water or electricity available at Ellendale Pool campground. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ELLENDALE POOL 

During the Summer heat, as Ellendale Pool is inland, it can get very hot, make sure you have the supplies to camp in hot weather. Need tips on Camping in Hot Weather, click here to read them.

There is signage on the rivers edge advising of the possibility of bacteria in the river causing meningitis and there have been cases of contamination. If you choose to swim in the river you need to be aware of these risks.
